PPGD and Grim Tales are then preceded by a new comic called Snafu Forces, in which the PPGD universe and the Grim Tales universe are "abducted" by Lord Vortech and incorporated into a makeshift world called "Planet Chronopolis". While investigating the other regions, Junior, Minnie, Dexter, and the Powerpuffs encounter a host of familiar heroes and villains. Unfortunately, the heroes unknowingly allow Vortech to destroy the Nexus Tree, which has been maintaining the time zones for the abducted areas. When they discover that a potential method to disable Vortech's defenses that currently exists outside Planet Chronopolis, the heroes (referring themselves as "the Fellowship of the Rift") attempt to retrieve the scattered fragments of the Nexus Tree.
Once the Nexus Tree is reassembled months later, they are suddenly ambushed by Black Hat, who uses the tree to unleash a terrible new threat: Surt, the Master of Ragnarok and the Ghostbusters' most ruthless enemy. Despite the overwhelming odds, Lapis and Brains manage to inspire the citizens of Planet Chronopolis to fight back against the "big bads". During the battle between the villains the inhabitants of Planet Chronopolis, Black Hat is knocked into the Netherverse by Junior when he tries to save Mandy, something she later feels proud of and admits this to her son, while Fenris (from Extreme Ghostbusters) meets a demise parallel to the ending of the “final chicken fight” from Family Guy while fighting Ben and Enid.
Vortech attempts to have another Phantom Gem, Eyeball, drop a sun on the Fellowship. However, Brains manages to cancel the attack and weakens Eyeball long enough for Lapis to ultimately defeat the evil Ruby with a nasty punch. With Vortech's trump card gone, Syren (also from Extreme Ghostbusters) ultimately turns on Surt out of strength and will to stand up him and her sister Banshee that were given to her by seeing the Fellowship fight on. This allows her to unleash a sonic scream power that weakens Banshee long enough for the evil Glostic Sister to recaptured by the Extreme Ghostbusters. Outraged with all this resistance, Surt absorbs Eyeball’s remains and prepares to wipe all the heroes with a single blow of Phantom Gem energy. Unfortunately, Stay Puft takes down Surt in a way that convinces the other Containment Unit inmates to turn on Surt. Despite this “setback”, Surt is about to deliver the killing blow only to get vaporized into nothingness by the Technodrome’s Fusion Cannon.
Once Vortech is defeated, the villain is unmasked as an young adult named Natalie, who is the apparent daughter of Ben and Enid that was conceived via teen sex. When Natalie was born, she possessed the combined powers of Ben and Enid's ancestors. After being abandoned as a baby, she spent her life mastering her powers until she adopted the identity and powers of the original Vortech (which took place sometime following the events of Lego Dimensions). Natalie states that she has been what she is now because her parents never loved her, but Ben and Enid confess that abandoning her as a baby was the greatest mistake they ever made because they feared that all her powers could lead to disaster.
Realizing everything her parents feared as proven true through her villainy, Natalie decides to undo the damage she caused to the dimensions, allowing them to remain undisturbed. At the same, she creates alternate timelines of the dimensions in which her machinations are able to occur, thus limiting the amount of damage done to the space-time continuum. Having witnessed this from Axiom Nexus, the TransTechs appear before the Fellowship and propose that Planet Chronopolis could be repurposed as "Earth Beta", a replacement of the TransTechs' version of Earth that has been lost to them for eons. With the deal made and the planet's transfer from Natalie's personal universe to the TransTechs' done, Natalie fades away from existence, though not before Ben and Enid promise to be better parents.
As they recover newborn Natalie, they are attacked by the Shadowy Figure, though K.O. notices something "off" about him. Shadowy is in fact a robot dispatched by Dr. X for ruining his places, making it clear that he was the creator of the original Vortech. In the end, the fake Shadowy Figure is destroyed and Bell and Samantha's ghost betray Dr. X by sending revenge-crazed inmates of the Containment Unit to maul him as punishment for starting the Kilobot incident, which they discovered as thanks to a failed experiment on producing artificial Glorbs.
With the threat of Dr. X and Vortech gone forever, the Fellowship and their allies prepare for their new lives on Earth Beta, though new challenges await them... Such as Planet Fusion and the Megalith.
