New thread to discuss Grim Tales chapter 9!
Firstly I too wonder Why Grids was arrested.
But secondly I too agree that the story is working as is, even with the parts that I agree with. Multiple story lines coming together at once is what good story writing is about, but Grid's unwritten plot lines are pretty bad, Mimi pulling the wool over Him's eyes: Bad. Chi Being Blossom's daughter: bad.
Incest between Junior and Minnie, goodish so long as they don't actually get together, it's just creepy.

I don't think I can share that info without Grids permission.
I still have my interest for Grim Tales, but I feel like ther is no progress atm and that NEK's writing is kinda bad. I kinda like the plotline of Mimi trying to fight to bring Blossom back, but I would have envisioned it different. I would have let Aku be still in the plot and that he now has absorbed Demongo's powers and captured Blossom's essence to use it as a base for Chi, and that Mimi still would be trying to free Blossom somehow.
However Grids never even wanted Chi in, he stated this numerous times. So he also never made a plot line for Chi to be Blossom's daughter. I however would have liked that more about Bubbles and Buttercup was shown, especially the storyline of Bubbles sounded interesting and I have my own story for Buttercup and Jack.
And the inscest thing was started by Bleedman, Grids wanted it to slowly become less and less and just turn into a sibling relationship.
Alright points for Grids, But it does feel like the story is moving slower than in FDB doesn't? I mean we are officially three Chapters in and it only feels like now we're getting to the good stuff. True we had a pretty fast start with 7, but the action has died down in 8, and now it only feels like we're back on track with the end of 9/start of 10.
Proper story writing is that you start slow in the beginning, then escalate to climax, then die back down again at the end. This feels more like a big valley in the middle of the mountain.
Indeed. The first chapter NEK did was the GTFO chapter which was actually very good. However during the half of chapter 8 everything just seemed to slow down even more, but I think the main cause of this is the lack of pace in updated. Bleed needs to drop some comics and focus only on PpGD and GT for example which are the fan favorites.
If you want to give a character many development pages be sure to keep a pace in the story because else it will just feel like long drag, the lack up proper pace and updates is why people started to dislike Chi because she is the highlight of attention while I feel like they want to establisch her character because she was introduced so late in the comic. I think if there was a PpGD and GT update every week it would've been different.
The problem isn't as much the pacing (that is pretty decent) but the update rate which is indeed too low. And that's why people have the feeling that it drags on... But it could be worse, look at Hellsing Ultimate (anime), it took them 6 years to put out their 10 chapters (an hour each) and the dub took 8 years to complete the series... (and it is a fantastic series, a must-watch for anime fans.) Bleedman should have waited with IZDM until Sugar Bits was over and one page of SB per month would be enough (I like SB but the PPGD and GT are simply better). I'm sure people wouldn't complain about Chi if the story was updated more frequently, so they could see what purpose she served in the story.
As for the Demongo-Blossom idea... I still think that for story-sake, Blossom is better of dead. That said, if they want to include Blossom as a living character, your idea is the best way to do it, as it make good use of Aku's oppurtinistic and capitalist nature while not underestimating HIM's intellegent. We don't know how many of their former abilities a soul has, but Demo might still have been able to absorb essence if only to store them (he can no longer summon them as he lacks his skulls). HIM wouldn't notice as he isn't concentrating on Demo and it isn't beyond Aku to find that killing such a strong warrior (it is mentioned by Demo that Aku believed her to be a strong warrior) and not store her essense a waste. He could later use it to create Chi, making her a unique familiar... Chi's soul actually being that of blossom or part blossom...
My preference would be, Chi being modeled after Blossom but as long as they don't go for a sexual conception of Chi involving Blossom, I'm fine with it. (Chi being part Blossom would give Mimi's direct attraction more depth but it could also make the story a lot darker, as Chi is the key to Blossom's essense, if I understand your idea well, and is Mimi willing to give up Chi (to sacrifice Chi) for her mother?)
I do hope they pick up the Bubbles-Tara storyline (with Bubbles still being alive but with Tara as dominant persona) and some exposure on Buttercup (Jack with Buttercup should work if executed properly), we need to know what happened.
Yeah with pace I meant the rate of updated,:s
Thanks. When I read that Blossom originally was going to be trapped in a pocket dimension by Mimi, who was intended to be a Zoner instead of a Telepath, I imagined this would be the better way to let Blossom still be alive. Grids intended Blossom being the drive for Mimi to keep doing what she does and obey her father.
And even though I like the Chi is "lesbianish" if part of Blossom's soul is infused with her it would explain her passion over Mimi, because part of that comes from Blossom. And I just guessed Aku stole Demongo's powers at the end of the actual episode in which Demongo died xd
Minnie was a free soul, in DKH idea (with Demongo, Aku and Chi), Blossom's soul was used for the creation of Chi, the soul is fused with Aku's power, creating an new creature namely Chi...Blossom soul is no longer avaible unless Mimi would sacrifice Chi (or chi sacrifice herself) to free the soul (if isn't already tainted) before placing her into a new body...
Welp, we're officially on chapter 10, time for the new discussion board.
